🛒 Ordering Your Beef
Q: How do I place an order for beef?
You can reserve a quarter, half, or whole beef directly through our website or by contacting us. Availability is limited and seasonal, so early reservations are encouraged. To guarantee availability, we suggest ordering 6-9 months in advance.
Q: What’s the difference between a quarter, half, and whole beef?
A quarter beef is approximately 100 lbs of packaged meat and includes a balanced mix of cuts from both the front and hind quarters. A half is double that amount, and a whole is the entire animal.
Q: How much freezer space will I need?
We recommend approximately 4-5 cubic feet of freezer space per quarter cow. This allows for proper storage of vacuum-sealed, organized cuts.
Q: How does payment work?
Yes. A deposit is required to reserve your beef, and the remaining balance is due before pickup. Exact pricing details are shared when you place your order.
Q: What is the total price for my order?
You will be charged on your animal's hang weight, which is the total carcass weight. This is the weight of the animal before butchering and removal of unwanted parts. Our animals range from 700-900lbs hang weight and your charge will be based on order size (1/4,1/2, whole) of that hang weight.
Example:
A steer's hang weight is 800lbs.
You ordered quarter steer.
Your half steer is 200lbs.
Our current price is $7.50/lb.
Your cost is $1500.
Note that we do our best to accommodate customers request for smaller vs larger animals (ie customer wants a half from a smaller steer closer to 700lbs).
🔪 Custom Cut Selection
Q: Can I customize how my beef is cut?
Absolutely. A few weeks before your scheduled pickup, we’ll reach out to discuss your cut preferences. You can choose the types and sizes of steaks, roasts, ground beef, and more.
Q: What if I’m not sure what cuts to choose?
We’ll provide you with a simple cut guide and personalized support to help you make selections based on your cooking style, family size, and freezer space. If you prefer, we can also provide a standard cut package.
📦 Pickup & Processing
Q: Where and when do I pick up my beef?
You’ll receive a pickup date once your beef is processed and packaged. Pickups typically take place at our local butcher partner’s location or at the ranch, depending on your preference.
Q: Is the beef fresh or frozen?
Your beef will be vacuum-sealed and flash-frozen shortly after processing to lock in freshness. It’s ready to go straight into your freezer or onto your plate.
Q: How is the beef packaged?
Each cut is professionally vacuum-sealed, labeled, and portioned for easy identification and storage. This ensures long shelf life and minimal waste.
Q: Can I split a share with someone else?
Yes, many of our customers share a quarter or half with friends or family. If you're doing this, let us know so we can help tailor the order or divide it for you.
